I've been summoned.
So the thing that you have to know about any basic machine that prioritizes box-appeal features over build quality is that, assuming they're not dead out of the box, they're going to be really good machines right until they're not, and then they die hard.
Basically, the first time that they break, they're probably broken forever. Not counting basic user error like threading it wrong or putting in improper fabric, but the first time that they break a part, the whole thing is toast. For some people, that happens 3 months after they open the box. For some people, it's 4+ years. But when it breaks, it's broken.
Also just be aware that with Singer, you're paying for the name. Thankfully, as years go on, Singer's new reputation for being overpriced and bad is superseding their former reputation as being the sewing machine. But Singer is one of three brands that the parent company owns, and it's their budget line. All you know about any given Singer is that if it was good enough, it would be released as one of their premium brands. Also before you buy a machine from SVP, make sure your local dealer can get parts and accessories from them. There's rumors going around of supply chain issues in some parts of the USA.
My current recommendation for a first machine at a more budget price is a Baby Lock Zeal, because it's been on their line forever under a bunch of different names (they rename it to keep consistent branding), and a bunch of the 10+ year old ones are still running fine. It's mechanical but it's not missing any of the features that you sometimes see in really low end machines. You get a full metal frame, presser foot pressure adjustment, 7mm zigzag so that you can actually find feet for it, drop in bobbin with a clear cover so you can see when you're running out of thread, and you get dual-movement stitches for stretch fabrics and decorative stitches.
My recommendation used to be the Viking Emerald 116 or 118, but the Zeal is a lot cheaper currently and Baby Lock didn't just release the biggest case of failure of product testing and quality assurance that I've ever seen, and when we need stuff from them they're actually sending it, so I'm not mad at Baby Lock right now.
Salesperson aside, I really, really think that the best sewing machine is one that lets you sew without frustration. Some of that is that it should work properly when you tell it to, and some of that is it having features that make what you struggle with as easy as possible, but also a machine that you can access is important. A machine that you don't spend all your time wishing you'd spent less money on is important. A machine that doesn't have a bunch of features that you'll never use, making you feel like you're not utilizing the machine. At the end of the day, if you don't have any sewing machine, then every day that you spend saving up for a sewing machine is a day that you're not sewing, so there's a sort of balancing act of "don't buy a machine that's shit, but get to sewing as soon as you are able to" that only you can decide.
Just say no to stapler machines. Don't get me started on stapler machines
bros yall probably already know what i’m about to say but i’ll say it anyway just in case
learn to sew, the joys of sewing are never ending. I sewed a witch hat last month, this week i turned some old pants into shorts, if my favorite socks and tshirts get ripped i can stitch them back together, i made a mouse plushie from an old airline blanket.
you can do a lot of things by hand sewing, albeit slower. but there are more basic cheaper machines too. if you don’t want to invest in a machine sometimes there are public places where you can use the machines. I did most of my sewing at my university campus library, some public libraries have machines too. but if none is available remember you can fix stuff by hand (i learned hand sewing solely so i can repeatedly fix my favorite socks, and it’s doable)
so yeah learn sewing, it’s a good skill

The main cast of Hazbin hotel on Valentine's day
I know I may be a little late. I had to do some shopping today and hadn't had the motivation or time to get down and write until now! I apologize is some characters are given more writing than others... the truth is that I am bised for some characters or simply have more for them. :C
Regardless I hope you enjoy these, I likely won't do these large posts very often.
Tumblr media
CHARLIE:
I hope you can forgive me for being a little short on Charlie's part, I had stated earlier what she would do for the holiday in an alphabet post! But to recap she makes you a mixtape with songs dedicated to you, songs made by her and songs she knows you like! The case is handmade too, covered in hearts as well as having a hand written note inside further expressing her affections for you. She would also give you some of your favorite candies! Expect to go out and do something fun and romantic too!
VAGGIE:
Much lower compared to her canon partner, Vaggie is not much of an enjoyer of the holiday. She keeps her thoughts to it to herself, though sometimes you might find her grumbling about all the pink and the red. She just doesn't enjoy the aesthetic all that much. However despite that she will still participate if she knows it will make her significant other happy! She would get you something small, like a stuffed animal and some flowers.
ANGEL DUST:
Respectfully stealing this idea from my mutual, but he already gets so many gifts and cards from his crazed horny fans. He hardly has the room for any more! Though.. he probably sells a lot of it for some extra cash, only keeping some of the candies. If you get him something, he probably wouldn't sell it. He's actually touched. In terms of what he does for you, he might treat you to a night full of him... in more ways than one if you're open to it. If you don't feel like going out he's fine with staying inside and watching some movies in his rooms... perhaps it's a deserved break after a rough day during the love season.
ALASTOR:
Similar to Vaggie, Alastor wouldn't do much. He understands the purpose of the holiday, but he simply. Does not care for it all that much. However I do rather enjoy the though of Alastor sending letters to his friends (Mimzy, Rosie, Niffty, ect). He even puts them in fancy envelopes and seals them with wax. How nice is that? If he can, he might even send a box of chocolates. Fingers, in Rosie's case. However, he doesn't do much to celebrate outside of that. That's assuming he sends anything at all, anyway.
SIR PENTIOUS:
He would go all out. He might even make a machine dedicated to you and gift it. He makes a mechanical heart that beats and gives it to you. He gives you all of the candy he can get his hands on, not exactly sure what you prefer. He takes you out for the night, to the nicest restaurant he can go to without getting jumped (because let's be honest... his days of trying to pick fights and climb to power has probably landed him with some enemies...). He's a total gentleman on the date, opening the door for you and pushing in your chair for you. Considering he's a little flustered that he is on a date with you, everything goes smoothly.
HUSKER:
He likes to stay in, but you can count that if you manage to get him to go out it's going to be a to a club or bar. Anywhere with alcohol. He'd much rather prefer a bar, since it's usually... lower in energy. He also isn't much of a Valentine's person, and he does show his disdain. He does tone down on talking negatively about the day around you, so there's that at least. A simple night in with an affirmation of love is enough for Husk.
NIFFTY:
She bakes you something and perhaps sews you something. A red throw pillow in the shape of a heart. Though you may have to tell her that's what you want because otherwise she's going to try something akin to the roach crown.... shivers... The baked goods are actually pretty good, and you'll be snacking on them for the rest of the week due to Niffty getting too excited and making too many. She will stab someone with a needle if they try to take one without asking you first.
LUCIFER:
He also goes all out, it might actually be a little overwhelming! He can conjure nearly anything he can think of, if his song was being literal! He wants to make sure you're loved, and that there's no possible way that you would ever think otherwise. Despite this he might rather stay inside, or maybe alter the home to look more fancy to make a mock dinner. Generally very sweet and you will be drowning in gifts from the second you wake up to the minute you go to sleep. He also makes you breakfast in bed.

Detroit, MI is slowly coming back and you can find a very inexpensive home in a great neighborhood like this for under $200K. This is a little 1948 Tudor with 3bds, 3ba, and is only $140K. But, what is going on with the decor? Let's go inside.
Tumblr media
We begin with the fireplace decor. I have never seen anything like this, nor would I even think of such a configuration. Flanking the fireplace are tables made from vintage trundle sewing machine bases.
Tumblr media
Have you ever seen such wall hangings? It appears that there's delicate black see-thru art placed over other art.
Tumblr media
I'm fascinated. Is there a meaning to it?
Tumblr media
The same theme carries over to the window. There's even a sort of fencing.
Tumblr media
This would be the dining room.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
If the new owner does not like the kitchen cabinet art, I wonder if it's removeable.
Tumblr media
The pink & blue bath has some decals on the tile, and it looks like original 1948 tile. Look at all the fringe. Where do you get stuff like that?
Tumblr media
There are more fringy curtains in the bedroom, and even the bedspread has it.
Tumblr media
Perhaps the original owner was a flapper or a Go-Go Girl.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The stair and landing walls are decorated with various wallpaper squares.
Tumblr media
This room looks like a den. I don't see a TV, unless it's hidden in the art.
Tumblr media
The wallpaper collage continues in the upstairs bath, but there's some cool burgundy original tile.
Tumblr media
Someone was very busy pasting wallpaper squares. You can actually go to a store that sells wallpaper and ask for the discontinued sample books, or even buy them on eBay. I used to use them for crafts as a children's librarian.
Tumblr media
This small room has nice knotty pine paneling.
Tumblr media
Looks like the basement is finished.
Tumblr media
There's a laundry area in the back.
Tumblr media
It's a large basement with several rooms.
Tumblr media
And, this is a large half bath.
Tumblr media
There's a sun room on the back of the house, plus a beautiful lawn and garage.
Tumblr media
6,098 sq ft lot

I'm so mad! I had to spend an hour and a half mending a pair of pants I sewed six months ago because they're literally coming apart at the seams.
There was ten inches of this in the thighs and crotch
(Inside photo)
Tumblr media
(Outside photo)
Tumblr media
And the waistband was coming apart in two places
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I got this linen from metro textiles and it was originally $29/yard!! I got it with one of their constant discount codes for like $15/yd but I've bought MUCH better linen for $15/yd at BH linens. My pink linen pants are thinner and I've had them longer and they're intact besides a few pulled threads from my cat's claws!!
Anyway, I decided to have another episode of V sews in their underwear and spent an hour and a half in my (cold!!) Basement stitching down various patches.
This one was 14"×3" (35.5cm×7.6cm) and I did running stitches in both directions. I decided it was going to be more of a hassle trying to sew it down by machine than I wanted to bother with so I just stitched it down by hand. It took me an hour.
Tumblr media
This one was to cover a small hole I noticed a couple weeks ago
Tumblr media
Here's the patch for the center back of the waist band. I did an especially bad job cuz at that point I was tired and my "hey don't forget to eat dinner and take your meds" alarm had gone off so I was in a hurry.
Tumblr media
Didn't patch the other waistband spot yet because I needed to eat and that spot has several layers of stiff interfacing so I need to use my sewing machine and I didn't feel like clearing space for it and finding the right bobbin and threading it with the right color thread.
I'm mad. There's no good reason for this kind of damage. These have been line dried and washed on the delicates cycle. Don't buy linen from metro textiles. Try BH linens or I've seen grey line linens recommended but I haven't tried them yet. They're on my list of places to try. Fabric wholesale direct sells linen and I have some of it but I haven't finished the pants I am making out of it. Will report back on quality.

I'm both a person on the internet and a professional sewing machine salesperson. I sell premium new machines and collect older machines, so I've got experience with new and old. So, if you have a price you're looking to pay and a rough idea of what you are sewing, I can probably suggest some things.
Also, as someone who used to work for the company that makes Singer, their modern machines will always be the lowest quality or the lowest featured at any price point, and the company that makes them knows that.
does any of my mutuals or followers sew on a machine. i have a quastion.

[Pictured: A WIP Rainworld Scavenger plushie in the colours ivory and pink. Her name is Barbie (short for Barbed Wire, of course.)]
I’ve had a few people ask about commissions/purchasing a silly little Scavenger for themselves, and I just wanted to say that yes, I’d love to sell these guys in the future!
Unfortunately, I am away at university now and don’t have access to my sewing machine back at home. So the scavenger making process is halted until the end of this term.
When I do come back to making plushies, as the scavengers are large and complicated to make, I’d probably ask around $200 Canadian for them. Does that sound like too much? I’ve never sold my own plushies before so community feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks!

You know how people put little signs on their cats to shame them for bad behavior? I feel like this machine deserves one of those cuz it took me like a whole damn hour or so to disassemble, reassemble, disassemble, and then reassemble once more the tension assembly in hopes it would fix the tension issues... it did not, of course. After much frustration I did the thing they say not to do and tightened up the bobbin case, which mostly kinda worked. I'm still not hot about how the stitches look at the moment but they're acceptable. jesus christ, the more complicated a machine is, the more difficult the tension situation gets. My Singer 101 and both my Atlas and Brother straight stitchers sewed beautiful stitches instantly. Of course, they all had their own more complicated problems that this Kenmore does not have (it doesn't seem to be locked up and it runs great). I've not yet gotten a machine that just works right out of the box lol. But the good news is that I currently have four functioning machines:
Tumblr media
My Singer 101, which needed a full rewiring and some new grease but otherwise sews great, 10/10 no notes
Tumblr media
My Atlas machine, which I have tried TWO pink motors with and neither have worked properly, so I've given up and just given it the new motor I bought. It's black and doesn't match at all, but it works.
Tumblr media
My Brother machine, which I thought would also give me issues but while the motor is kind of loud, it seems to be working okay with minimal sparking or struggling. It came to me with some rust on the bottom and it was a little locked up, but it was nothing WD-40 couldn't fix. This motor has strangely large brushes, so I couldn't replace them even if I wanted to. They don't seem to be standard. So I'm glad it works as is.
I spent all weekend working on my 1951 Singer 201, because why do the easier machines when you can frustrate yourself with a complicated one. As of now, it's all cleaned up, but I need new wicks for greasing it, and it came to me with a completely fucked power cord and foot pedal, so I need to do the work of rewiring those, though I don't think anything needs to be rewired in the motor or lamp (hopefully). The shellac is damaged on the bed, so it and all the other Singers are potential candidates for re-shellacing via french polish.
Tumblr media
The "easy" machines will be the older ones: the 15-30 (made 1923), the two 66s (one from 1917, the other from 1906), and I've got a New Home showing up tomorrow from that era as well. 2 out of 3 of these have motors that I have no clue if they actually work, on account of the wires being cut or dangerous. Thankfully the oldest Lotus decal 66 is in a treadle. It makes it a lot easier to deal with!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I should probably sell at least a few of these as fully refurbished machines but I am attached to them lol. The Kenmore I'm least attached to, but I need it cuz I need to hem a sleeve of a jacket and it has the free arm and the correct stitch to do that with. It's not pretty but it has its uses.

QUICK AS SOMEONE WANTING TO GET INTO SEWING... Got any tips for beginners?? 🥺🥺
OK SO LMAO
I'm going assume you mean like, with a machine, but there's also some stuff I can start you off with for hand sewing (which is also a fantastic and very necessary skill to have in my opinion!)
-Most sewing machines they sell at the store are the same, Singer is just the most recognizable brand bc it's the oldest. A sewing machine with the same specs in another brand is basically the same.
-Now, what those specs are is important for what you're doing. A basic sewing machine for, say, sewing lightweight or medium fabrics will run you between 100 to 300 dollars. 'Heavy duty' means you can switch the setting to add more power behind the needle because it has a more powerful engine to get it through more layers of/thicker fabrics, and it has a wider range of settings for different projects.
-There's also surger machines, but I'm not sure about those (and I can only assume as someone just getting into things, that's probably not what you're after, but if it is, you should talk to the clerk at the store or look up reviews)
-MIND YOUR HANDS, CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH EVEN IF IT SEEMS TO GO WITHOUT SAYING. THE MACHINE DOESN'T CARE ABOUT YOUR FINGERS. DO NOT PUT YOUR FINGERS ANY CLOSER TO THE NEEDLE THAN YOU NEED TO TO CONTROL THE FABRIC. FUCK.
-Adjusting the tension on the needle is a bitch, everyone hates it. If your thread is snapping for seemingly no reason, it's probably the tension.
-Some machines come with an automatic bobbin winder, which is nice. (actually, I think it's a standard for most these days? More research needed..) but yeah. Bobbins. They make the underside of your stitch line, which is important otherwise the thread just pulls through the fabric uselessly.
-Seam allowance is how much extra edge you give the fabric when you're cutting it out so you can sew it together. I usually got for about a quarter inch, which is about two centimeters? You may want more or less, depending on the fabric/ what you're comfortable with. Some fabrics ravel at the edges easily, so you need more seam allowance for a different kind of stitch.
-Pinking sheers are those scissors with the jagged edges (like those craft scissors but for Grown Ups) - this cuts the fabric in a way that keeps the edge from unraveling so easily
-On the subject of scissors, DON'T. FUCKING. CUT. OTHER. MATERIALS. WITH. YOUR. FABRIC. SCISSORS. I WILL COME TO YOUR HOUSE AND FILL YOUR SOCK DRAWER WITH SAND. Doing this will dull your scissors really fast. Don't fucking Do it.
-Machine loud....scary...BUT MUST NOT LET IT KNOW YOU ARE AFRAID
HANDSEWING
-There are a ton of fantastic tutorials on youtube for learning some basic stitches, but here here and here are some I find most useful.
-Needles also come in different sizes and shapes depending on what you're working on!
Tumblr media
Big blunt needle: tapestry or darning needle. Used for weaving in ends in yarn, usually.
Small needle: basic sewing needle.
Curved needle: Good when combined with the ladder/invisible stitch for sewing two things together with no visible thread showing. The curve acts like a scoop in very taught fabrics were you cant angle a straight needle to get it through again.
-You're gonna want a thimble. You put it on the finger that's pressing the needle through the fabric, because if you're sewing for a bit, that finger is gonna get chafed from the point pressure.
-REST AND FLEX YOUR HANDS it's really easy to get cramps because of the small, repetitive nature of the action!
-you will see that one youtuber making god level outfits. you will be tempted to try that. I cannot control you, but I can also stand on the shore and wish you godspeed
--
NOW, IF YOU HAD QUESTIONS ABOUT EMBROIDERY, UNFORTUNATELY I GOT NOTHIN'. I don't do embroidery (yet...we'll see how things go). But here is a video for you to look over of some basic stitches for embroidery you may find useful!
I hope this has been helpful! If there's any specific questions you have, you're always free to ask, and if I can't answer them, I can maybe point you to someone who can! :D

Okay so I'm not a pro at the commercial machines, but the really short version of my experience is:
Do you want static foot or walking foot/what kind of feed do you want?
How high does the foot need to go when it sews?
How
How thick of thread do you want to use?
If you've got those three things figured out, your number of commercial machines that would work for you will go go from about four thousand to about 20 models across all the brands. You might even know the answer to those questions by looking at your shop machines and seeing what features you like.
And then you need the other questions about the rest of the setup:
Do you need a servo motor or a clutch motor? (my personal rule is always servo unless your task is so heavy that they do not make a servo motor strong enough)
What kind of tabletop/legs/casters do you need? (my personal experience is that unless the casters cost $400, they are worth buying).
How is it getting to you?
Who is putting it together?
Another big consideration is who is going to fix it if it breaks? If your business grinds to a stop when one machine is out, then you don't want your repairs to only happen via mailing it to another state for repair.
As a side note, if you do not have a nearby repair shop, and no one in your company is 100% proficient at retiming the exact model of machine you buy, you want safety clutches on your machine. The safety clutch disengaged the hook if the machine jams to a point where I will go out of time. You can then remove the jam and reset the hook (usually without tools). Some old school sewing folks hate safety clutches. They can pop when the machine could technically have gone through that fabric, so some people day they rob the machine of its power. Personally, I think opting for a no clutch machine because you get mad if the safety clutch activates when the machine could technically get more power is sort of like taking the batteries out of your smoke detector because sometimes it goes off when you're burning food that you're cooking.
If you're in Northern California and want to buy a commercial machine from me and help pay my rent then let me know, but my company can't ship commercial setups so I'm probably no help on the actual "physically give your store a machine in exchange for dollars" front.
Hey there! I have a sort of random question. I just recently started working for an industrial sewing company(we make golf cart enclosures). The company recently went public and was bought by a man with a lot of money. He has asked us what we need to really streamline our process, like Lazer cutters and new machines. But we know nothing about those kind of machines. We sew on a couple of really old Pfaff fellas. So my question is, if you had carte blanche to buy an industrial machine, which would you pick?
Hope this is an okay place to ask this. I love your sewing! ❤️
Hm, I do not think I'm the right person to ask about that!
I do have a lot of experience using industrial machines, but only the ones made for clothing. Industrial machines tend to be very specific - at my current job there's one that just does straight stitch, and one that just does blind stitch hemming.
Presumably the kind of machines used for outdoor coverings would be different ones, made to take much thicker thread and fabric? I think a business that makes similarly Large things would be a better place to ask.
I haven't really noticed any difference in the industrial machines I've used. The one at my current job are from the Reliable corporation, the ones at my previous job were Juki, and I don't remember what the ones at college were. All of them are good and sturdy and have never given me any trouble.
I hope you can find someone who knows more about it!

Miraitabi Home Aesthetics
I had this post sat in my draft for months and finally, it’s time for my boys’ house tour episode…
—Yuuya Kanata
Tumblr media
Top Row: Balcony/Laundry, Yuuya’s Bedroom, Ojou-chan’s house Middle Row: Father’s altar, Entrance, Kitchen Bottom Row: Recording Room, Father’s Room/Mini Studio, Living Room
🏮 Tidbits 🏮
Yuuya lives on the 2nd floor of a certain apartment in Nara city
He is on favorable terms with the landlord auntie. Moreover, she shows to be quite sympathized with him for his father’s sudden demise
He usually does laundry on the balcony and also keeps some edible veggies like sunflower sprouts in the planters out there
His bedroom used to have bunk beds back when his big sis was still around, but when she left, he sold it out because he thinks it has no use for someone living alone anymore…
After adopting Ojou-chan, he decided to build a cat house to welcome her. And as funny as it may seem, he has recently got another new roommate again —Luckily, looks like this new roommate doesn’t need much space for the living
He owns one red bicycle which he regularly uses and is allowed to parked it in the parking space on the ground floor
Another trivia about him: he can cook rather well as he usually the one who makes his own meals. Well, he has a habit to depend on instant food whenever he feels down
He was once used to take charge of making meals when his father was still alive since his father was utmostly clumsy when it comes to cooking.
His father’s room is full of his bittersweet memories yet is his most favorite place to find himself in, and now he has turned it into his own mini-studio
Although his father has owned a separated studio elsewhere nearby, in his room is still all equipped with many music instruments which Yuuya refuses to sell any no matter what
There is a minimal soundproof room (Recording room) built in one side of his father’s room as well
Also, on the other side of the room has his father’s urn placed in a small altar. And you may guess it right: his family including him is Buddhist

🍡 Tidbits 🍡
Asahi lives with his grandparents and their personal spaces are mostly up on the upper floor of their store
His house and family store “Harumatsuya” is located in Nara city’s commercial district known as ‘Naramachi’ a.k.a. granny Momose’s territory
His house/store had been constructed in somewhat traditional Japanese style since the early generations of his grandfather
Despite still preserving some traditional elements like tatami mats and sliding doors, Asahi renovates almost everything in his room according to his own likings such as decorating it in comfy pink and vamping up his bed to be a canopy one
Asahi is an anime and manga lover too! He has his own manga corner and keeps so many merchs as well as plushies in his room
Most of his numerous hobbies are handicrafts and one of them is embroidery, therefore, he also has one sewing machine placed somewhere in his room. He may not be into crossdressing or cosplaying himself but he is kinda into making cute clothes!
Asahi’s grandpa is unfortunately bedridden, so his own room is on the first floor (For convenience) and his room is equipped with few medical supports
His kitchen and ingredient room is pretty large and is located at the back of the first floor where Asahi and his grandmother mostly spend so much time preparing things before the shop opens

your site has espresso machines? that slaps if i ever buy a new one ill look at there
THAT'S RIGHT, FOLKS, WE HAVE ESPRESSO MACHINES!
I'm so tempted to buy the massively over designed autonomous vacuum so that I can remote into its camera from my cell phone while I'm at work and say hello to my dog. With my vacuum.
Actually fun story, our Miele rep that comes in and shows us their new products (like the espresso machine) actually started out being a vacuum salesperson at our store.
Also my store has the world's largest sculpture of a sewing needle. We just own that. It's 70 feet long. We're a fun place.

Today was a pretty awesome day. Honestly I don't have too many complaints except I was tired and it was hot. A lot of today was great.
I fell asleep really fast last night which was really nice. And I wish I got to sleep longer but I was pretty well rested. But I was very tired when I got up. I woke up at 7:15 and I did not want to get out of bed at all but I knew I had to. Last week Ann had said I didn't have to come this week if it was too hot if I didn't want to but then she texted me yesterday that she wasn't feeling well and that she was wondering if I would take over today and of course I said yes because I care about her and I want to make sure that the market is going well. And so I got up and I got dressed and I wore this jumpsuit which is great except for some reason even though usually women's clothings have fake buttons this one all the buttons down the front are real and it gaps like crazy so 5 seconds before we needed to leave I took the whole thing off and I ran it through the sewing machine. I did not change the thread on the sewing machine so there's just black stitching going down the front now. I'm going to rip it out at some point and put something that matches a little bit better but it has to be sewn down or it would drive me insane. And I really like this jumpsuit so I want to make it work.
I was not in the best place emotionally because I was so tired. But James got us out the door only a few minutes late and we didn't forget anything which was nice. We stopped for breakfast and everyone who was working in the McDonald's was literally a teenager and was so confused at every question and it was a little funny. But we got our food and it was fine even though the hash brown was a weird shape. And then we were at the market.
James helped me set up. It was already very hot and Anne was not feeling great and was going to be leaving by 9:00. But she stayed for setup and everything was going okay. No big disasters. No one being terribly annoying with their vehicles. I got all set up and then I just started knitting.
And I would finish my ball of yarn. I still need six more squares to finish the whole thing. So hopefully I'll have that done tomorrow and then I can start sewing the rows together. And I'm really excited. Just think the gradient looks very cool and I'm excited for this project to be done and to start working on my next one. I have no idea what that next one will be but I'm excited.
And I'm surprised at how good I did today at the market. Because I was not feeling it. I tried my best to stand because I always do better when I stand. I don't know why that is but standing up makes me sell more things. And people were really nice and I had some really nice interactions. A child from last year and the year before, Rosie, who had bought a bear and named it Farmer Bear, came back for the first time this season and I was so excited to see her because she's going to be turning four next month and her mom and her dad and her little brother and it was just so nice to see them. And while she wanted to buy the other bear that matches her farmer bear, except farmer beer has a pink nose and this one has a black nose, mom said no bears this time. Which is understandable. Instead they bought a sticker and she's going to put on her water bottle for her first day of school and I could cry that's so cute.
And I also had that nice family that always comes and buys things from me bring two of my frogs back that needed slight repairs. They tried to pay me for it but it took me literally 2 minutes to resew the legs So I said it's fine and then they bought four stickers anyway. I really appreciate how much they support me and they made my day very bright by telling me how much they love the things I make.
It was very hot though and all of us were suffering. And we decided that we would close the market early at noon. Bob came out and we had a really nice long chat about metal casting and getting sunburns from welding and just he's such a nice guy. I used to be so intimidated by him but I think he's great. Though he did get upset with me later in the day when he found out we were closing early and I didn't tell him. But I thought he was standing right there when we had the conversation so I feel bad. But it's not my fault!
I'm just glad he still was able to come out and get his lunch before everyone closed up.
James did come out to get baked goods with me. I got my peanut butter pie and a caramel brownie which is excellent. And James got a couple donuts and a cheesecake bar and a key lime pie for liter this week. And eventually they would go and buy a burger from the food truck because apparently they promised on Thursday that they would buy lunch there with them today.
And James said it was really good.
One of the other really nice interactions I had was towards the end when a family came by, a white woman and an Indian man, and then all of their parents. And the white woman picked up one of my bears and was gushing about how it reminded her of her and her brother's childhood toy and she loved it so much but she couldn't decide which one was the closest. So I told her go for a walk do the loop come back. And she did and when she came back her mom was with her and she showed her at her mom was like oh my god it does look like your guys's toy, who was named lammy and Barry. And then the husband was like I'll buy it for you and so I was like okay but then all of a sudden his mom throws her credit card at me and she's like I'm going to buy it for my daughter, her daughter-in-law which was so cute. And then the Indian guys dad who had an amazing turban on goes hey you're only supposed to swipe your credit card 30 times a month! And she said more like 30 times a minute lol! And it was so silly. And it was just such a sweet interaction and I just really loved it.
And then I had someone buy three bears from me for their nieces and nephews and that was great. And I was just having such a nice day and people were great and I was very happy even though it was incredibly hot.
The other real problem was that it wasn't super hot in the pavilion. We were getting a really good breeze. It was warm but it wasn't unbearable but as soon as you left the pavilion It was like so hot that I was worried for everyone in the parking lot even though they were under tents. Like it was painful. The wind though was keeping us cool in the pavilion but was also knocking everything over. I kept having to chase papers and then my stuff was going everywhere and I had to put some stuff away because they just would not stay still. And honestly it made me so tired. I was pretty okay until I had to start running around.
So I was really really happy when noon came around. I took my time putting things away. Jose came over and told me I could take peaches because he had a bunch of leftover. And then Helen gave me a bouquet of flowers to say thank you for introducing her to CJ. And it was just so beautiful and everyone was so kind today. Just a lovely group of people.
After I packed up I went inside to sit with James and give them a break so they could run to the bathroom. And I talked to Deborah who I haven't seen in a while and it was nice to see her. And then I decided that everyone was packed up enough outside by 12:30 that I could leave.
I went outside to tell Stanley that I was heading out and told him not to tattle on me that I was leaving a half an hour early and he said he didn't see anything. And then I left. And I was so happy to go home.
On my way home there was so much traffic in the opposite direction on MLK because of the baseball game tonight so I made sure to note that so when I came back for James at 4:00 I would go a different way. And then I saw a guy asking for change and I gave him one of the peaches after asking if he would like one. And he got the biggest smile on his face and he was like Yes I absolutely would love a peach. And it was just very nice and he had such a nice smile. I hope he's doing okay.
I got home and I brought everything inside and I put things in the fridge. I had bought guacamole again and was very excited to eat that later. I cut the bottoms of the flowers and I broke the bouquet in half because we were going to go to Jessie's graduation party tonight and I would give her half the flowers. And then I took a quick shower and changed and got in bed and slept for almost 2 hours.
When I woke up I was so delirious and so sad that I had to get up. I did not want to go to this graduation party I did not want to drive I was so upset but I made promises and so I had to make it happen. And so I went and had some of that guacamole and a little bit of my brownie and then drank a whole lot of water and headed out.
I had to drive through the city and while there was no traffic people were driving so stupid and I had to be so aggressive to deal with them. And I hate being an aggressive driver but I am also very good at it. And so I was trying not to scream at people and swerve my car around other cars but I safely and in one piece made it to the museum before 4:00.
I got James and switch seats so that they could drive and then we went to Jessie's gathering.
The sky looked very dark for having a 0% chance of rain. And almost immediately after we parked the sky opened up and it stormed for about a half an hour very hard. But we were safely inside and honestly it was a really nice little time. We were only there for about an hour But it was really good. When we got there they were just about to do toasts and little speeches for Jessie and the other graduate, Edgar, and it was really nice and everyone was really sweet and just clearly cared about them both so much. And when they asked if anybody else had anything to say if something was on their heart I was like hey I know I don't know any of you and none of you know me but walking in the space just feels like it's filled with so much love and that's just very lovely and I'm glad that all of you are friends and we were all joking for the next hour about how I just wandered and off the street because I didn't know anybody. But it was really cute and I just loved listening to it and honestly because I'm so emotional right now I could have cried a few times because they were being so sweet to each other but it was really nice.
And then somebody brought ice cream so I got to have an ice cream cone and there was watermelon. There was also a feta orzo salad that I was coveting but I did not have any of because I didn't really want to eat any more salty food but I love federal orso salad so I told James that and they said they will make something for me.
And I did get to talk to a couple people and make a couple little friends. And I'm at another non-binary James and had a lovely conversation with them and I got to talk about camp and a couple other like goofy things about kids being super out and LGBTQ friendly and how it's just beautiful to see but also how goofy they are about it and how I had that weird conversation last year where a child told me that a football player at their school was queerbating because they weren't actively out of the closet. And I'm like it was just you can't queer bait in person that's something that media does. So it was just really nice to be in such a queer space with so many beautiful people that were all clearly just so smart and kind. Plus there was watermelon and that was great.
We left right after the rain stopped. And I was in a much better mood and a much better place emotionally. Tony let us know that he was on his way with Leon and Billy to bring them to our house and we had one more stop so we headed out after saying goodbye. And went over to Jessie's house because she had a new bike for me.
When I say new I mean she found this bike in a free pile on the side of the road and it's small so she thought that it would work for me. And it's about the same size as the bike I have already And it's very cute and it's a Schwinn. It's caliente Schwinn. I'm not sure what I'm going to name it I'm leaning to hot tamale or cherry bomb. But it's very cute and I'm excited to see if it works for me. So James took that off of her back porch and took the wheel off because it's got a quick release and we got it in the car and went home.
We beat the boys there by less than 10 minutes. And I was happy to see them. I got to show off my apartment just a little bit. I knew that they were going to be leaving very soon but it was cool to get to show them some stuff and then they talk sports with James and James gave them jerseys and hats to wear to the game if they would like to and then they were off to the light rail.
As soon as they left I got right into cleaning. I vacuumed I cleaned the kitty litter I cleaned the fish tanks I sprayed down the bathroom I wiped all the surfaces and I was having a great time even though it is entirely too warm in here. I had both air conditioners going but I take forever to really cool down the space. It seems to finally be working though. And I just spent like an hour and a half cleaning and making it nice in here and then I got to work laying out all of my squares.
I decided to do this kind of gradient of the three colors with the black. So it's like a checkerboard gradient and I really like it. I made one too many red squares and I still need six black squares. I'm frogging and old panel that I made with the black yarn that I never used for anything. I have a whole box of stuff that could be frogged honestly but I just grabbed that one and started doing that but then I got distracted and I didn't want to work on it anymore so I pinned all of the rows so that I can just grab them and start sewing them together and hopefully I will have all of that done by the end of camp. Honestly I don't think it's going to take me that long but it is time consuming. So we'll see what happens.
After I did that I chilled for a while and then I decided I needed to set up the beds for the boys cuz I didn't know what time everyone was coming back from the game And I was surprised to find that we don't have very many sheets. I don't know where they all are. I know I got rid of a couple but I didn't think I went crazy. So that's annoying. But I set the beds up best I could. And also we don't have a lot of like cooler weather blankets so I put the ones out that I could find but most of our blankets are made of fake fur so they're very great for the winter but not great for right now.
Hopefully the boys think it's fine. I also put teddy bears on both of the beds so I hope that makes them feel cozy.
Once I finish that I got into a project in the studio fixing my rainbow sandals. I thought maybe since they're basically ready for the trash I could try patching them. Which is something I've never tried before. I have some leather scraps so I cut squares to put around the ball of the foot area because it's cracked on both sides and then I glued and clamped the backs. I don't know if these will be usable at all but I love having just a pair of flip-flops I can throw on when I need to walk down to the car. Which is something I had to do to get the air pump for the air mattress. And that's when I was like I'm going to do this next project. And it was fun even though I got glue literally everywhere including on my stomach somehow.
So then I knew it was time to take a shower. And I took a very excellent shower and it made me feel a lot better. And I put on nice vanilla lotion. And then I did my eyebrows and now I am laying in bed with sweetp.
James just texted me about how bad the Orioles are. I don't know why they're shocked the Orioles have always been bad. But I hope they're having fun. And now I'm going to go back to watching my video and maybe working on my knit squares for a little bit longer.
I hope that you guys had a good day and that you are not somewhere where it is incredibly hot. I hope that you are being grateful and kind. I love you all. Be safe and tell your mom you love her.

would ya look who it is, lisene michaud - cordovés in the flesh! dude, i heard they were a fashion designer & product developer at that place across town. yeah, no ,they’re the one that’s really attentive and pleasant but my buddy said they’re super self - critical and a bit sensitive too. i wonder what they’re doing over here though? c'mon let’s go back to my place and i can show you their myspace profile, it autoplays can u handle it? by usher when it boots up, it’s great.
     i. statistics.name: lisene michaud - cordovés. nickname: lis, lise. meaning: determination, sincerity. age: forty-four. gender, sexuality, pronouns: cis woman, bisexual, she/her. parents: rené michaud, father, living & mireille michaud ( née lynch ), mother, living. siblings: none. education: bachelors in fashion design & merchandising, bachelors in marketing & sales. languages spoken: english, french, spanish, asl. occupation: fashion designer & product developer at her own recently purchased store.
hair: deep copper, falling inches below mid-back. eye color: warm shade of green. height: five feet and 4 inches. tattoos: sun-faded pink, purple & black butterfly tramp stamp on lower back, 5 inch corset-style with interlacing ribbon piece, starting between shoulder blades, ribbon neatly "tied" in a dainty bow. piercings: madison (chest dermal), first and second holes in ears.      ii. an overview. miracle daughter to rené and mireille michaud; their only child, lisene might've been spoiled senseless ( having once been gifted the most beautiful clydesdale for maintaining high honors ), but she was never ungrateful. while she took after her father, baring a striking resemblance to his own mother, lisene inherited her mother's goodwill. unfortunately, though, with her heart on her sleeve, lisene hurts easily - in her younger years, if you'd so much as raise your voice to her, lisene was in tears. in the years since, as she's matured, she's learned to take less to heart... and prefers to surround herself with like-minds.
following graduation, lisene attended the fashion institute of technology, where she'd ( inevitably ) excel, rubbing elbows with some of the best designers in the game - it was around this time that she'd conceptualized her very first collection, and her success grew from there. before she knew it, lisene was leasing her first store and had a full clientele roster. she bought her first place, certainly not short of breath-taking views or acreage, ample space for her to create and live harmoniously.
if you need to find her, lisene's most often at her store, seated in the backroom with her sewing machine running. dedicated to her craft... it's her life's work! always looking for gifted people to hire - offering an opportunity to have their work seen ( whether it be jewelry, wearable textiles, ten inch platforms constructed out of orange street cones ), in exchange for assistance with completing orders and very generous paychecks. tldr; at the core, a big-hearted fashion luver & designer... and, as a recent business owner, she offers incredibly nice clothes for a fairly reasonable price. she hires aspiring designers to work out of her store for a monthly commission fee, offering to list and sell pieces for her staff. lisene is known for coming into work and handing out coffee/tea, gift cards and scratch off tickets.

So nice to have to report a comment on something because they put in a link to their whatever, shop, corn, give me money. I need to edit that video of the baby borzoi saying 'fuck you' as a reaction, when I'm done deleting the comment and blocking the user.
If Tumblr needs a nice list of corn bots just look thru my blocked users. Pretty sure most if not all of them are bots. If some real users want to join I can make that happen.
I mean when I'm looking thru the Cat Blanc tag I expect to see Miraculous Ladybug and white puddy tats with pink noses and toe beans. Had to report and block then refresh a dozen times because the same pics kept showing up for 100 bots. You'd think by now they'd have a filter that could help spot that but no, they have to flag a brown puppy on a beige blanket or the half snoots washing the dishes in the dish washer.
Tumblr media
The potato purse now becomes one of those things I'll sell if I can get some compensation for supplies and labor, if not it's not in the way or anything. You can fit a full sized tablet and, yes and, a composition book in there. I don't know about a 3 ring binder but it'll probably hold a smaller pronged one.
The black stripe around the edge is webbing to support it, the last purse I made suffered for not having that, and there are 6 pockets inside, one on each long side and two on each short side. (the selvage edges)
Tumblr media
It's lined and the seams for the pockets are inside the liner so they won't get frayed. The red thing on top is a zipper. All done my hand because I'm not skilled enough with a machine to make something like this with it's corners.
Want to buy it to take it apart to make a pattern to copy and sell? IDGAF, it's a fucking rectangle, it takes less than a yard of fabric, I lucked out in the selvage edges being the edges of the pockets so I didn't have to sew them. My only derp is not having wide enough webbing to cover the entire bottom but this was all the store had. It's the shit they make woven chairs out of. The strap is pre cut, doing the buckle to change its length was the most complicated part.
***
If the back cooperates today I want to put the dolls in to the dollhouse, still have a ways to go to get all their minis in there, or arrange my top of the dresser things in an attractive manner.
Getting more ideas for a rewriter-restructure of the Smallville cowboy story. Lex is still gonna get it coming from both ends but I want to give Lois some more action, in several ways, and really have her out to discover the truth.
Still working thru an AU with Vertias entering the picture earlier.
And I have to make myself watch the last two Ladybug movies, yes I still haven't seen Shady Bug and I better know what's happening with London pretty damn soon. Going to work Beetlejuice Beetlejuice in there too.
Now to go back to manifesting cowboy Tom Welling stuff...
